Laura Loving @ Atlanta ArtExpo 2005

By Jeff Green

Atlanta – New York Artist Laura Loving returns to her roots to exhibit at ArtExpo Atlanta 2005, September 15 – 18, Georgia World Congress Center. The artist, who grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta, will be exhibiting a selection or her original oil paintings, limited edition serigraphs and her 2005 line of Art Objects.

Laura Loving received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia. When asked to describe her work, she says: “I take everyday images and recreate them into my own animated version of the world. My art is an invention of reality rather than purely an exact imitation. I exaggerate color and shape to create art that is humorous, alive and uplifting. Without question, I believe making a connection with someone through a painting is the best part of being an artist.” Painting with oil enamel on canvas, Loving has developed a distinctive style consisting of bold lines, dramatic surface patterns and pure color that result in vibrant paintings with a certain poetic energy.

Loving has exhibited in solo and group shows throughout the United States and abroad. In New York, she has shown at Lincoln Center’s Cork Gallery, the Pratt Institute, Taller Boricua Galleries and Anthem Gallery in Soho. In Europe she has shown with The Wonderwall Gallery in Cirencester, England, and Chaleurs du Sud in Nice, France, where the artist lived for several years. In Atlanta, Loving was commissioned to create an outdoor mural in Centennial Olympic Park and the official serigraph for The 1998 Music Midtown Festival of Atlanta. This fall, her artwork will be featured at a concert series in New York City at Lincoln Center’s new Jazz venue in Columbus Circle, “Jazz at Lincoln Center”.
